Pilatus

Two hotels, five restaurants, the largest cog railway in the world and the largest rope park in Central Switzerland.

Tomlishorn

Pilatus is not a mountain with a closed summit structure, but rather a massif consisting of individual peaks forming a mountain chain, of which the donkey is the most striking rock formation. Mount Pilatus is under land protection, which also contributes to the fact that the ibex can be found everywhere on the mountain in the wild and is one of the great attractions of Mount Pilatus.

Hotel

The Pilatus is Lucerne’s local mountain and is located south of the city. The highest point is the Tomlishorn with an altitude of 2128m. The mountain station Pilatus Kulm  with the viewing terrace, a panorama gallery and two mountain hotels is located on the scenic local mountain of Lucerne.

Railway

In 1860 the Hotel Bellevue was opened. In 1868 Queen Victoria stayed at the hotel with her entourage. The Pilatusbahn, the steepest cog railway in the world, has been running from Alpnachstad to Pilatus-Kulm (2073m) since 1889 with a maximum gradient of 48% a year later after the opening of the railway, the Hotel Kulm followed. The first building of the Hotel Bellevue was replaced in 1963 by the round building we know today, and the top station of the cogwheel railway was also expanded.

Tour

The mountain has been accessible from Lucerne since 1956 with the Kriens-Krienseregg-Fräkmüntegg gondola and a Fräkmüntegg-Pilatus cable car, which was renovated in April 2015.

This enables us to do a round trip from Lucerne to the Pilatus with the gondola and aerial cableway, then (but not in winter) with the cog railway to Alpnachstad and via steamboat or motorboat back to Lucerne. Our limousine service will pick you up at the hotel and drive you to the Kriens gondola lift, we will be in Alpnachstad at the agreed time and will take you with us. You can enjoy the boat ride back to Lucerne, our chauffeur will pick you up at the facility in Lucerne and bring you back to the hotel.

Numerous sports can be practiced, such as paragliding, tobogganing, hiking, climbing (on the rock and in a rope park), mountain biking and tobogganing on the summer toboggan run.

The top of the mountain is illuminated during some nights.
